DESCRIPTION:This Zoom class will help you prepare to knit a sweater (whether your first\, or 20th) as part of a broadly defined sweater Knit-a-Long at Moss Brook Fiber Arts.  We will discuss how much ease to add for a sweater (and therefore\, which size to knit)\, how to choose a substitute yarn\, how to knit a sweater to make finishing easier\, and basic ways to adjust a pattern. DESCRIPTION:Fingerless mitts are a nice quick project for holiday giving and they are a good chance to learn some new skills.  In this class we’ll make some worsted weight fingerless mitts with a cable up the back of the hand.  We’ll work them circularly so that you can learn and/or practice small circumference knitting in the round. The cable will be a basic one for an easy learning experience if you are new to cabling.  And if you are comfortable with both these skills\, you’ll get a free pattern for a quick knit and companionship while you knit!  Bring 100 g. worsted weight yarn\, double points\, 2 circulars\, or a long circular in 1 size smaller than you usually knit it in\, and a cable needle.

DESCRIPTION:For those of you who can’t make the Saturday class\, we’ve scheduled another for Monday morning!   In this class you will learn how to fix a dropped stitch\, mistakes in lace\, texture\, and cabled patterns\, and to place lifelines. We’ll learn some techniques for dealing with mistakes that occur too far back for a simple fix. Bring your mistakes and/or a swatch still on the knitting needles with stockinette stitch for the first half of the stitches and garter stitch for the second half.

SUMMARY:Toe Up Two at a Time Socks

DESCRIPTION:This is a two session class; the first took place on 10/27 \nWe will begin with a miniature sock\, perfect for decoration or as the first half of a baby gift.  You’ll learn how to make a heel flap\, turn a heel\, and pick up gusset stitches.  At the second session\, you will learn to finish the toe with kitchener stitch.  You can use your preferred method for knitting small circumferences: double pointed needles\, two circular needles\, or magic loop. For the first class\, you will need to bring worsted weight yarn\, needles to match your yarn\, and a yarn needle. For the second class you can bring the particular pattern you would like to knit next and we’ll talk about other sock knitting methods\, such as toe up and short row heels and get you started with your next sock. \nPlease note that clicking this button will take you to the Yarn and Soul website to checkout.
